POST 6 - A Postgraduate

Hello, I think the postgrad I would really like to take is a Specialization in Social Theatre, especifically the one that is imparted in the Pablo Olavide University, in Sevilla, España.

The reason I would like to take this direction in my career is the compromise I have in bringing instances of learning to places where it is needed the most. Places where that kind of activity doesn’t get. I think a necessity of the human being is to work on himself in ways that involve expression and the understanding of their own personal feelings and emotions.

In particular, the matter I would most like to study would be Theatre of the Oppressed, a branch of Applied Theater that involves social discourse and participation.

I would like to study it in presencial time, assisting in morning and mid-day schedules. That would give me time to focus on studying in the afternoons.

POST 5 - A photograph and its story

This is a picture I really like. I took it myself wandering in the streets of Santiago. It shows two youngs with punk-like outfits and hairs, they seem to be sharing a cigarrette. To me, this picture gives me feelings of cuteness and fun. Their pink hairs mark a contrast with the grey of the buildings.

It was taken in the year 2017 one day I decided to wander the streets of Santiago to discover and learn how to locate myself in there. I did not expect to take photos that day but I was with my analog
photo camera in my backpack so in the moment I watched those 2 people and the scene they composed, I really liked it and decided to take a photo.

Another reason because I like it is because it was a very spontaneous moment.

POST 4 - Themed post

Street Theater🎭

Hello, my theme of interest is how Drama Acting can be applied in the streets. I choose this theme because since the beginning of my career I had been interested in Street Theatre. It has always caught up my attention.

I really consider a good way to democratize the cultural and art instances is necessary to take out the theatre from the theaters. The institutionalized theatre is very low accessible for the people with no money for those activities. As I think cultural activities are really important to society and people, I take that Street Theater can and should resolve that limitation. This kind of activities can be realized in almost every open space, such as parks, large streets and even in parking lots!

My wish is to participate in making these instances occur more and to get them in more places.

POST 3 - My favorite piece of technology 🎥

My favorite technology gadget it’s my record camera. I get it at a really cheap price at the marketplace in my residence locality in Penco, Concepcion.

I use it to get takes of almost everything! When my family comes to visit me, I register our conversation and dinner. When they're gone it makes me very happy to watch it.

I work with it often to register the manifestations in Dignity Square (former Italy Square). Every friday I try to get good takes about what happens there.

I like it because one of my passions is documentary cinema and because I think it has a social role in exposing the police brutality in the manifestations.

Without my camera I would pass really boring times, because I really use it often.

POST 2 - Study and Work

When I was a kid I really wanted to become an astronaut. In my night times, the only thing I thinked about was to visit the space.

Before entering to study Philosophy, I really wanted to study Musical Interpretation. After a semester in Philosophy, vastly influenced by the Drama group I was in and because of a really inspiring play I watched, my focus went to get into the Drama and Acting career in the University of Chile.

My experience in the school has been really challenging, especially in these times of pandemic, but my partners have been really supportive and that keeps me up.

I would really like to work organising cultural activities. That is not only my area of interest, but really my dream job.

I hope that your online classes work well.

POST 1 - About me...

Hello, my name is Patricio Poblete, I am 23 years old and I was born in the city of Concepcion, Chile.

After studying through secondary education I entered the University of Concepción to study Philosophy. I didn’t finish that career, because I decided to go to Santiago to study Drama and Acting in the University of Chile.

My family is also from Concepcion, specifically from the locality of Penco. I have two brothers, each with 16 years and 26 years respectively. My mother is a teacher in primary education and my father is an accountant.

One of my interests is to go shopping at the marketplace. One time, in an old marketplace stand, I discovered a shiny red stone. It looked like a ruby! The seller told me that I could have it for free. I was very excited, but when I got home I discovered it was only a good looking candy.
